Champollion Eugène-André

Eugène-André Champollion was a French artist who was born in 1848 in Embrun (Hautes-Alpes) and who died in 1901 in Lettret. He was a French engraver and illustrator, a student of Léon Gaucherel. Trained by Léon Gaucherel and Edmond Hédouin, Champollion mastered the art of etching as well as most engraving techniques. Between 1873 and 1876 he collaborated with the magazine Paris à l'eau-forte and then with the Gazette des beaux-arts. He exhibited several times at the Salon des artistes français and at the World Exhibitions of 1889 and 1900. (Wikipedia)
