Cant Henri

Henri Cant (Burcht 1928 – 2021 Deurne). Painter, draughtsman, watercolourist, and pastellist. He received training in the decorative arts at the Municipal Vocational School in Antwerp and attended evening classes at the Antwerp Academy. His subjects include figures, portraits, and landscapes—notably those of Antwerp—and he had a particular fondness for the Campine (Kempen) region and the sea. From 1976 onwards, he also created over 120 depictions of the Virgin Mary, inspired by statues he discovered throughout the Antwerp cityscape. Professionally, he worked as a typographer at the firm N.V. Fotogravure De Schutter in Antwerp. He resided at Koraalplaats in Deurne/Antwerp. (Piron)
