Belgische kunst kopen van Camille D’Havé

d Havé Camille

Camille D’Havé was a Belgian artist who was born in Ghent in 1926 and died there in 1980. He was a painter, draftsman and graphic artist. Grew up in the Patershol, the poorest working-class district in Ghent. Training at the Academy in Ghent under the direction of J. Verdegem. In 1950 awarded at the Prix de Rome, in 1967 entry at the Jeune Peinture Belge Prize. His first etchings were created in 1969. Leaning towards the fantasy. After a period of numerous self-portraits, in which his admiration for Dürer, Cranach and the German primitives was reflected, he found his own visual language and painted fearful scenes, an apocalytic world populated by hybrid beings and symbols, leaning towards the Flemish fantasy in the line from Bruegel and Bosch. He also spent some time working with ceramics. From the press: “Above anything else, he is sensitive to the depiction of human drama; he wants to hear the sad story of the sad life in the valley of tears.” Was part of the group Honest Arts Movement. Work in the Museum in Ghent, among others. Mentioned in Bas I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. Source: Piron.
