
Boudry Aloïs
Aloïs Boudry was a Belgian artist, born in Ypres in 1851 and died in Antwerp in 1938. He was educated at the Drawing Schools in Ypres and Roeselare and then at the Academy in Antwerp under the guidance of N. De Keyser and J. Van Lerius. During the First World War he lived in England. He specialized in genre scenes, figures and interiors. He mainly sought his subjects in the poor neighbourhoods, preferably among the fishing community in Nieuwpoort. Work by Aloïs Boudry can be found in the museums in Antwerp and Kortrijk. He was a member of the Als Ik Kan group. He is listed in the Lexicon of West Flemish visual artists i, BAS I, II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
