Bossche Bob

Bob Van Den Bossche, pseudonym Bob Bossche, is a Belgian painter, born in Antwerp in 1936. He studied painting at the Academy in Antwerp under the guidance of Antoon Marstboom and Vic Dolphyn, and ceramics under Olivier Strebelle. He works in an abstract style. The artist stated that the essential aim is to convey the right colour and material on the canvas; the space on the canvas is the painter’s expression and the means by which he seeks to touch his fellow human being. He was a member of the G-58 Group and regularly took part in exhibitions. A journey through the United States in 1974 and his contact there with Rauschenberg, Samaras and Judd had a major influence on his work. He exhibited at the Galerie Bruxelles Lambert in Antwerp in 1977 and more recently at the Het Vijfde Huis Gallery in Antwerp in 2009. Works by him were also acquired by the State (Piron).
