Beernaert Jean-Guy
Jean-Guy Beernaert (Jean Mélanie Guillaume) was a Belgian painter, born in Antwerp in 1928 and died in Czestochova/Poland in 1998. He was self-taught. From the press: “J.G.B. does not mistakenly call himself a neo-impressionist. He specialized in the direct representation of the cityscape. He works outside. First of all, he loves Antwerp. In the busiest streets and on the most famous squares, as well as in the quiet alleys and corridors, he sets up his easel. This much-needed immediate contact leads to spontaneous and dazzling paintings, to snapshots, which he does not retouch afterwards.” Jean-Guy Beernaert is listed in BAS I, II and Two Centuries signatures of Belgian artists.
