Schilderijen van de Belgische kunstenares Marie-Louise Batardy

Batardy Marie-Louise

Marie-Louise Batardy (Brussels, 1943). Painter. Trained in decorative arts in Saint-Gilles; qualified teacher of visual arts. She taught for one year and then spent four years in Argentina, where she earned a living through sculpture and various artistic crafts. Upon returning to Belgium, she committed herself fully to painting. Naïve style. A painter of lively, anecdotal scenes, usually populated by numerous poetic figures. The artist states: "I prefer dandelions to orchids; I like vagabonds more than well-behaved children. I feed stray cats. I paint and experience all of this because my painting is my life." Her work is held in collections including the Musée d'Art Naïf in Paris. Based in Diest. Listed in Twee eeuwen signaturen van Belgische kunstenaars (Two Centuries of Signatures by Belgian Artists).
