Deleu Arthur
Arthur Deleu was a Belgian artist who was born in Kortrijk in 1884 and died there in 1966. He was a painter, draftsman, watercolourist, interior designer and furniture designer. Was married to Magdalena De Coene and thus had constant contact with his brother-in-law, Jozef (Joseph) De Coene. Worked as a designer for his furniture and decoration company. Painted landscapes from the Lys and Scheldt regions, blooming orchards, ripe cornfields, farm views, but also industrial corners, the harbor side of Dunkirk, panoramas of dunes and seaside resorts in the Westende area, portraits. Debuted pointillistically, drawing with Chinese ink. Later he achieved remarkable effects by using charcoal and watercolor or gouache together on canvas, even mixing them.
