
Eitel Anton
Anton Eitel was a German copper engraver who was born in Dusseldorf in 1841 and who died there in 1928. Eitel was admitted to the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1857 and initially studied with Josef Wintergerst (basic class), Karl Müller (2nd class Antikensaal), Andreas Müller (history of art) and from 1860 to 1871 in the engraving class of Joseph von Keller. During this time , as a devout Catholic , he joined the Düsseldorf Nazarene circle , made devotional images for the Society for the Dissemination of Religious Images and became a member of the Malkasten artists ' association . As a reproduction engraver (copper and steel engraver), Anton Eitel made numerous plates based on biblical histories, depictions of the Madonna and saints. His works include the magazines "The Immaculate Conception" by Albrecht Steiner von Felsburg and "Mater amabilis" by Franz Ittenbach. (Wikipedia).
