Van Neste Alfred
Alfred Van Neste was a Belgian artist born in Bruges in 1874 and died in Sint-Genesius-Rode in 1969. He was a painter, watercolorist, draftsman, etcher, illustrator and poster designer. Took classes from his uncle Fl. Van Acker and at the Academies in Bruges and Antwerp. Settled in Antwerp and became a teacher at the Academy. Commissioned by the city, he designed posters, floats and costumes for the processions. Settled in Uccle after the First World War. Mainly painted old, typical city corners, often in Bruges. Was also active as an illustrator and illustrated, amongst other things, in 1912 the anniversary edition of De Leeuw van Vlaanderen by H. Conscience.
