Albessart Marie-Louise

Marie-Louise Albessart was a Belgian artist, born in Montbliart in 1907 and died in Beaumont in 1999. She was a painter, watercolorist, sculptor and graphic artist. She was educated at the Academy in Charleroi and at Ter Kameren in Brussels. Yet she was largely self-taught. She realized landscapes, flowers, still lifes, portraits, religious and historical compositions and genre scenes. She evolved from classical design to expressionism. She also designed more than a hundred bookplates. Marie-Louise Albessart was a member of the Fédération Féminine Artistique Belge. She is mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
