De Mechelse schilder Albert Geudens

Geudens Albert

Albert Geudens was a Belgian watercolorist, etcher, pastellist, painter and draftsman who was born in 1869 in Mechelen and who died in 1949 in Schaarbeek. He followed his education at the Academy of Mechelen and later continued at the Academy of Antwerp. He preferred flower still lifes, genrepaintings, church interiors, portraits, cityscapes and still lifes. He painted poetic faces of old Mechelen: typical corners in the beguinage, interior designs, old buildings and houses. Through the play of light and shadow and the soft hues of color, he emphasized the atmospheric and somewhat melancholic of these houses and neighborhoods and their residents. (RKD, PIRON)
