Belgische kunstenaar Albert Cambeen

Cambeen Albert

Albert Cambeen is a Belgian artist born in 1944. He is a painter, draftsman, pastellist, gouachist and graphic artist. He studied at the Academy in Ghent. In his paintings he shows a certain anguish that is inherent to the theme of human existence and that confronts the inevitable duality that this theme entails: good and evil, light and dark, speaking and hidden, figurative and exuberant on the one hand but on the other hand, meditative and with a tendency to abstraction or purge. From the press: “A.C. focuses in part on abstraction, whereby basic rules that arise from figuration are preserved. He worked professionally as a therapist at a Ghent psychiatric clinic. In a sense, his work environment influences his plastic expression."
