Steurbaut Adi

Adi Steurbaut is a Belgian artist who was born in Ronse in 1938. He is a painter and graphic artist. Followed training as a civil engineer-architect in Ghent. Established himself in 1969 as an independent architect and worked from 1969 to 1976 as a part-time assistant at the University of Ghent. Followed sculpture training at the Academy in Ghent (1980-1984).
Self-taught when it comes to painting. Realized sunny faces, often seen from an open window, village landscapes, marines. Constructs his optimistic, lavish works with bright, flat and clearly defined areas of color. From the press: “A.S. paints summer scenes in luminous shades and an idyllic world in a slightly abstracted and geometric design language ”, and“ In bright colors he tells us sunny stories about houses and streets. Sometimes he looks at the world from above and draws the plan of the dream world in colorful squares where there is no polluted industry, no cars racing around, no people rushing drums to survive ”.
