Le Mair Jacques

Jacques (also Jaap of Jacob) Le Mair was a Dutch-Belgian artist, born in Delft/Nederland in 1905 and died in Bruges in 1990. He was a painter, draftsman and glazier. In 1922 he came to Bruges and was friends with A. Blomme. He followed his education at the Academies in Bruges (1924-1927) and Ghent at A. Coudron. As a painter he made landscapes, portraits, figures, sea and beach views, still lifes, toys and animals. He worked with great accuracy in dry, sparing colors. Jacques Le Mair is listed in the Lexicon of Westvlaamse Visual Artists 1, Bas I and two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
