Betigny Ernest

Ernest Betigny was a Belgian artist born in Schaerbeek in 1873 and died in Brussels in 1960. He was a painter who studied at the Academy of Brussels and Schaerbeek. He preferred landscapes, farm scenes, interiors, figures and portraits. He spent a long time in Grimbergen and found inspiration in countless corners and faces. He was taken into a retirement home at the age of 80 and painted penetrating portraits of his companions, with their weathered and bony hands particularly noticeable. Listed in BAS I. (PIRON)
