Safa Behçet
Behçet Safa was a Turkish artist who was born in 1934 and who passed away in 2018. He was a painter and lithomaker. He studied in Istanbul. He lived in Rome, Istanbul, Stockholm and finally in Capoliveri. He exhibited in 1961 at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, then at the Paris Biennale and in 1978 at the Salon des réalités nouvelles. He also held solo exhibitions in Paris, Stockholm, Vienna, Brussels, Kloten and Munich. He has collaborated on film projects such as The Secret of Santa Vittoria and Atelier de la loute. From the 1970s, he settled permanently on the island of Elba and worked mainly in Italy. Behçet Safa was the grandson of the Turkish writer and journalist Peyami Safa. His father Ilhami Safa was also a journalist.
