The printed cover contains nineteen sheets folded in half, only the inner parts of which are used. On the first sheet is the double portrait of Rik and Nel Wouters; on the next sheet, folded in half, on the right is a vignette of flowers and on the left, Tytgat's self-portrait. Then the story begins, consisting of sixteen consecutive pages with the text on the left and the color wood engraving on the right. The book was published in London and came off Tytgat's presses, "the printmaker's press," in an edition of 40 copies. This is Tytgat's first woodblock-bound album.
