Van Roosmalen Will

Will (Willy) Van Roosmalen was a Dutch-Belgian artist, born in Maastricht/Netherlands in 1930 and died in 2017 (?). He worked in Antwerp. He was a painter, glazier, designer and interior designer. He trained in arts and crafts in Maastricht, sculpting in Florence, painting at the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the guidance of J. Creytens, evening lessons in drawing, under the guidance of Jan Vaerten, also in Antwerp. He worked mainly as a glazier and painter from 1947 to 1969 and then focused on interior design and art collecting. His interior designs and furnishings demonstrate a strict austerity and are characterized by a geometric interplay of lines. He took part in the exhibition of the Group G 58-Hessenhuis in the Middelheim Castle in Antwerp in 1958. Will van Roosmalen was responsible for the design of the Rik Wouters exhibition in the cultural center in Mechelen. His work was purchased by the State in 1960 and 1968/1969. He worked in Antwerp. The cellist (oil paint) and Nude in landscape (mixed techniques) auctioned by the Zaal Bernaerts in Antwerp in 2005. He is mentioned in BAS II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists.
