Praet Marcel
Marcel Praet was born in 1946 in Borgerhout. Painter and graphic artist. Educated at the Academy in Antwerp. From the press: 'M. Praet makes everyday, domestic scenes and uses various media such as gouache, tempera, powder paint and collage. Delicate colours give his work an intimate character (1977). In 1980 he attempted to remove the barriers between both forms in graphic painting (or in pictorial graphics). In an airy, sunny atmosphere he comes across as fresh, sober and romantic' and 'M.P. knows how to focus his attention on details in a surprising and sensitive way, such as ropes, the knots in them, the frayed appearance due to frequent use, in doing so he immediately creates a specific, intrinsic space around the chosen core of the painting.' Was a teacher at the Academy in Hoboken/Antwerp in the 1980s. Represented in the collection of the art lending service Kunst in Huis (2005). (Piron)
