
Bollé Martin
Martin Bollé (Vilvoorde 1912 - 1968 Schaarbeek) was a Belgian artist and painter. He studied at Sint-Lucas in Schaarbeek and at the Academy in Antwerp. He was a pupil of Constant Pellegrin and Jules Brouwers in Vilvoorde. Painted portraits, clowns, figures, compositions, flowers, still lifes, interiors and landscapes. Prix de Rome in 1940. Debuted in a sombre colour palette but discovered light around 1958. The appearance of his characters immediately became calmer and more serene. Painted a Way of the Cross for the chapel of the College of the Sacred Heart in Ganshoren. Work in museums in Brussels, Ghent and Charleroi. Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
