Van Wijck Jaak
Jaak Van Wijck was a Belgian-Dutch artist who was born in 1879 in Ginniken (NL) and who died in 1946 in Antwerp. He was a painter and glazier. First training in the Netherlands at the Drawing Institute of Breda. He then settled in Antwerp and continued his studies at the Academy and the Higher Institute, where he won several first prizes in 1895. He mainly painted landscapes, forest, heath and Scheldt views in all seasons, farms, orchards, mills and sporadically also flowers and interiors. For some time he worked in Brasschaat, where he often painted in nature. Was also a valued glazier and together with his business partner Gussenhoven realized numerous stained glass windows in Art Nouveau and Art Deco design. Was a member of the Scalden and later also of the art circle "Eigen Vorming". (piron)
