Schilderijen kopen van de Belgische kunstschilder Henri Houben

Houben Henri

Henri Houben was a Belgian painter, born in Antwerp in 1858 and died in Antwerp in 1931. His parents forced him to follow a music course, but founded an Atelier de peinture et de musique in the attic. Provided he did not neglect his violin studies, he was allowed to go to the Academy. At the Academy in Antwerp, under the direction of Ch. Late he followed his education. He realized portraits, figures, genre scenes and landscapes. He found his inspiration mainly in Antwerp and the Kempen and he also often painted the farmer with his horse. He collaborated with Verlat on several murals, including the panorama of the Battle of Waterloo and a panorama in Moscow. Henri Houben traveled to Northern Italy and he also spent some time in the Netherlands. There he found inspiration in Zeeland, Katwijk and Veere. In 1855 he became a teacher at the Academy in Antwerp. It is listed in BAS I and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
