Henri Joseph Pauwels was a Belgian painter born in 1903 in Haasdonk and died in 1983 in Beveren-Waas. As a painter he had a preference for landscapes, rural views with farms, flower arrangements, seascapes, Antwerp harbor views and interiors. His works are impressionistic in nature and reflect poetry and optimism. Created for example "Cargo ships in the port of Antwerp" which was auctioned by Zaal Hessink in Nijmegen in 2009 and "Harbor view with ships" which was auctioned by Zaal Du Mouchelles in Detroit in 2012. Signed with H. J. PAUWELS, in wide capital letters. Also mentioned in some catalogs as Henri Joseph Pauwels. Mentioned in Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists.
