Peinbtre Belge Georges Vandenbosch

Vandenbosch Georges

Georges Vandenbosch was a Belgian artist born in Gilly in 1912 and died in Charleroi in 1981. He was a painter and self-taught artist. Evolved from realism with landscapes, cityscapes and street scenes to expressionism, where he was mainly fascinated by color, and ended up in abstraction in about 1958. Over the years, his abstract design became more geometric, more pure and more sober. From the press: “His paintings whisper. No screaming colors, no fierce compositions; quiet outlines and half tones that, spread over the canvas with love and feeling, create a soothing peace for the eye and mind.” Was professionally associated with the tram company in Charleroi. Work in the Museum in Charleroi. Mentioned in BAS II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. Source: Paul Piron, The Belgian visual artists from the 19th to the 21st century.
