Faber Frédéric Théodore

Frédéric Théodore Faber was a Belgian artist, born and died in Brussels (1782-1844). He was a porcelain painter, painter and engraver. He was a student of his father J.H. Faber (1734-1800) and later by B.P. Ommeganck in Antwerp. He made his debut as an engraver and miniaturist. He has created genre scenes, portraits and scenes with animals, among other things. In 1815 he was appointed Court painter on porcelain and in 11819 he started his own porcelain company in the rue de la Madeleine in Brussels. The company was taken over by the Cappellemans brothers in the middle of the 19th century. In the meantime he also continued to engrave and realized about a hundred engravings after the work of B.P. Ommeganck, J.B. De Roy and H. Van Assche. We can find his work in the museum in Brussels, among other places. He is mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
