Bovée Jules
Jules Bovée was a Belgian artist born in Edegem in 1914 and passed away in Mortsel in 2003. He was a painter, draftsman, and restorer. He received his education at the Academy in Antwerp; he produced landscapes, figures, interiors, portraits, still lifes, and holiday scenes. He began his career using somber tones, but his palette brightened after stays in the south. Jules Bovée was a drawing teacher at the Sint-Stanislas College in Berchem and at the Our Lady College in Edegem. He maintained a studio in Doelveldstraat in Edegem. An exhibition was held in 1969 at the De Beser gallery in Antwerp. His work "Winter Landscape" (pastel) was auctioned by Zaal Campo in Antwerp, "Still Life with Fruit on Table, Slipper, and Stool" and "Kitchen Table with Woman" (two gouaches on cardboard) by Zaal Bernaerts in Antwerp in 2011.
