Boland Charles

Charles Hubert Denis Boland was a Belgian painter, born in Spa in 1855. He was educated at the Academy in Antwerp. In 1878 he registered to participate in the Prix de Rome. He painted scenes with animals, genre scenes, landscapes and portraits. In 1883 he is one of the founders of the Circle Als Ik Kan in Antwerp. In 1879 he took part in the Salon in Antwerp with 'De Zeven Hoofdzonden' and 'Luchtpostkantoor', in 1880 he exhibited in Brussels, and in 1883 he took part in the Salon in Ghent with 'Op de berm' and 'Juffrouw Mirza' . In 1884 he participated in the Exposition Générale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, in 1892 he exhibited in the 35th Salon in the Casino of Ghent. In Antwerp he exhibited in 1898 and Charles Boland took part in the Salon Triennal des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in 1903. He worked in Antwerp until 1901 and then settled in Rixensart. (Piron)
