Johannes Joseph Destrée
Johannes Joseph Destrée is a Belgian painter born in 1827 and who died in 1888. He lived and worked in the Netherlands for most of his life. Destrée studied at the Drawing Academy in The Hague under Bartholomeus van Hove and Andreas Schelfhout. He mainly painted landscapes and beach scenes in a style related to romance, in which in particular the influence of Schelfhout is clearly recognizable. Many of his works are situated in or near The Hague and Scheveningen, but he also painted in the polders and the Veluwe, in particular in Oosterbeek and near Arnhem. He also traveled to Germany and worked in the Potsdam area, among other places. (Wikipedia)
